In the past, a patient suffering from spinal disc problems usually was given pain medications, instructed to refrain from physical activities, referred for physical therapy, and when they weren’t progressing they were sent for spinal surgery. Conservative chiropractic care proved helpful in some cases, yet too many case ended up in surgery, which proved to be a risky last ditch option until now.
Today, you don’t have to live with that pain anymore. Thanks to our unique protocol of Class IV laser with Spinal Decompression we can effectively treat neck pain, back pain, and sciatica resulting from herniated or deteriorated discs. This unique protocol not only significantly reduces back pain in many patients but also enables the majority of patients to return to more active lifestyles.
Is the Spinal Decompression Treatment
Proven to be Effective?
Yes. In a recent outcome study by T. Gionnis (submitted to the Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine), Spinal Decompression treatment was successful for 86% of the 219 patients…with treatment success defined by a reduction of pain to 0 or 1 on the pain scale.
Decompression is achieved by using a specific combination of lumbar positioning and varying the degree and intensity of force. The key to producing this decompression is the gentle pull that is created by a logarithmic curve. When distractive forces are generated on a logarithmic curve the typical proprioceptor response is avoided.
How Does Spinal Decompression Differ From Ordinary Spinal Traction?
Traction is helpful at temporarily treating some of the symptoms resulting from some serious back conditions. However, traction cannot address the source of the problem like a herniated or bulging disc. True Spinal Decompression creates a negative pressure or a vacuum inside the disc. This effect causes the disc to pull in the herniation and the increase in negative pressure also causes the flow of blood and nutrients back into the disc. This allows the body's natural fibroblastic response to heal the injury and re-hydrate the disc.
Traction and inversion tables, at best, can lower the intradiscal pressure from a +90 to a +30 mmHg. True Spinal Decompression is clinically proven to reduce the intradiscal pressure to between a -150 to -200 mmHg. It's at this negative pressure that spinal discs can truly heal...without triggering the body's normal painful response to stretching as seen with traction.
